After finishing my MA at Central St. Martins I spent four years at the renowned design studio Why Not Associates. Whilst there I designed and directed film and print work for various clients including Sony, Virgin Records, The Royal Academy of Arts, The Royal Mail, The Design Museum and the ICA.
I also worked on the infamous Sensation poster and its supporting graphics for Charles Saatchi’s infamous and controversial Royal Academy of Arts exhibition.
As a young designer Creative Review’s Creative Futures selected me for their typography category, exhibition and award.
I have directed television commercials and title sequences for various clients including
The Economist, The European Union, Hewlett Packard, Sharwoods, Barclays, The Samaritans and The Royal Mail. I also designed and directed film work for the BBC,
D&AD and Capitol Films.
In advertising I have designed campaigns for The Science Museum, (co-designed with Paul Belford), HSBC, Nokia and various others. I have worked with a number of respected Heads of Art in London.
I have designed books for Booth-Clibborn Editions, HSBC, BBC, Hearst Books International and The Department of Trade and Industry.
One of my personal passions is Art and especially Graffiti Art, and how it has evolved over the last twenty years from New York subway trains to Banksy. I have been fortunate to work with some of the worlds most influential artists in that field and have made books for Adam Neate, José Parlá, DELTA (Boris Tellegen), WK Interact, Ron English and Anthony Lister.
I spent two years editing and designing a book for the trailblazing London gallery Elms Lesters Painting Rooms. A five hundred and twenty page history of the gallery and their shows. Concluding in eleven days in Bologna overseeing the print and production.
I have had my work featured and nominated in D&AD and published numerous times in Creative Review. The highly influential and respected Japanese design magazine IDEA dedicated 24 pages to my work in issue 291. I also won a BTA arrow for my Kfc television commercial.
I recently commited two years to write and design a 288 page book celebrating my graphic design work for the Elms Lesters Gallery in London, published by art and graphic design’s most lovable rogue (Edward) Booth-Clibborn Editions.
I have worked on small artistic projects, large corporate advertising campaigns, charity projects, film projects, books, posters and branding. Regardless of the project or its size, I think good design can always be utilised to help communicate the essence of the client’s needs in creative, aware and sometimes exciting ways. Graphic design can contribute positively to our social environment and is most effective and powerful when combined with a worthwhile cause or a responsible message.
I am a self-starter and when I’m not making commercial work I make my own personal work. Recently I’ve made a series of large scale screen prints with anti-war messages. I work with London’s prestigious screen printing studios Coriander Studio and K2. I’m passionate about design and art and believe they have the ability to transform our lives in deeply positive ways. As Dostoyevsky said, ‘beauty will save the world’.
